Example:
You asked me to research and compare VOO to FTEC. Both ETFs offer strong growth, but they’re very different. VOO is a broad market fund with exposure across all 11 sectors that make up the stock market. It’s more diversified and stable long term. It also has a lower expense ratio and a higher dividend yield, which might be more attractive to a long term investor seeking higher dividend income. The growth has been solid, it’s considered the best ETF for most retail investors, and has a long term track record. It doesn’t try to outperform the stock market. In a lot of ways, it is the stock market.
FTEC on the other hand, is essentially a technology fund. All of the funds holdings are in technology. As a result, this equals a MUCH higher return, but it carries considerable short term volatility and risk due to its lack of diversification. It holds significantly fewer companies and relies heavily on the biggest tech companies, meaning future performance depends on how the tech sector does. If you’re an older investor or a more conservative investor, VOO might appeal to you. If you’re younger or more accepting of risk, you might lean toward FTEC.
